Ultra Music Festival to debut SmartGrid battery-powered stage in Miami this week

The RESISTANCE Cove Stage will run entirely on zero-emission power

Ultra Music Festival will debut its first battery-powered stage this week, continuing its pursuit of becoming a more sustainably minded event.

The RESISTANCE Cove Stage will be powered by the zero-emission Showpower SmartGrid™ battery system, and form part of Ultra’s Mission: Home sustainability initiative, which aims to “protect our home, reduce our environmental impact and inspire our community to respect the planet.”

While several stages at Ultra have already moved away from diesel by connecting directly to the grid, the new stage goes a step further by using a battery system that stores grid energy in advance and delivers it without any onsite fuel use or emissions.

“Each year, we push ourselves to think bigger, and this next chapter reflects how collaboration, innovation, and culture are coming together to create lasting impact,” said Ultra’s Sustainability Director, Vivian Belzaguy Hunter.

“For the past six years, Showpower’s team has worked closely with Ultra to develop intelligent and sustainable power solutions as part of Mission: Home,” added Paul Schurink, co-founder of Showpower.
